The Wooden Hull Yacht Club is dedicated to bringing together people who are interested in cruising and racing wooden yachts. Our goal is to stimulate interest and continuing love and respect for the skill, design and workmanship which only a wooden hull boat can reflect.
As classic sloops, schooners, ketches and yawls disappear we aim to encourage the restoration and preservation of sailing maritime heritage. Our members take pride in the ownership and appearance of their sail and power boats and wish to share with and educate others in the beauty of classic wooden vessels.
Here's a quick rundown of our race and event calendar. Please check the events page (button to the left) for further details.

The Newport Heritage Regatta
September 14th, 2013 - Newport HarborThe Newport Heritage Regatta is set to return after a many year hiatus on Sept. 14th, 2013. Originally scheduled for Sept. 7th, we had to adjust the date due to an unfortunate scheduling conflict at Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club.
We are looking to reestablish the Newport Heritage as a showcasing event in Southern California. Sitting in between San Diego and Ventura/Oxnard, the Heritage holds the promise of being a perfect venue in between the Northern and Southern limits of our coastal racing community. The Newport area is also a communications and cultural hub and the opportunities for us to promote wooden boats is obviously enhanced by the presence of the Newport Heritage as a yearly event.
It is my desire to see the Heritage added as the fourth and final event in the California Classic Yacht Series. My thinking is that the scoring in the series would be based on a boat's top three performances - assuming attendance at four events. What this does, by having an event in the middle (between SD and Ventura) is it allows those boats at the extreme of our geographical range to more easily attend 3 events without having to commit to a long distance journey.
Please try to make it to this event and help us reestablish the Newport Heritage as a premier event on the Southern California sailing calendar. I have included the NOR and the Race Application.
Mooring and dock space has been reserved. Please contact Susie Broderick directly at BCYC: 949-644-9530.
The Skipper's Meeting is at 0930. First start is scheduled for 1230.
We will have post race festivities at BCYC starting at 1800 hours. Food tickets are $20 each. All are welcome to join us !!!
