The Wooden Hull Yacht Club is dedicated to bringing together people who are interested in cruising and racing wooden yachts. Our goal is to stimulate interest and continuing love and respect for the skill, design and workmanship which only a wooden hull boat can reflect.

As classic sloops, schooners, ketches and yawls disappear we aim to encourage the restoration and preservation of sailing maritime heritage. Our members take pride in the ownership and appearance of their sail and power boats and wish to share with and educate others in the beauty of classic wooden vessels.

Here's a quick rundown of our race and event calendar.  Please check the events page (button to the left) for further details.

The Ray Wallace Iron Man Race

The last event of the year for the WHYC is the upcoming Ray Wallace Iron Man race, to be held on Saturday, November 8th in conjunction with the L.A. Yacht Club.

This event brings an end to a year that saw us participating in the California Classic Yacht Sereies, attending the Wooden Boat Festival in Newport Beach (organized by club member Ralph Rodheim) and re-establishing the Newport Heritage Regatta in conjunction with the Balboa Yacht Club.  We also welcomed back some old members and greeted a few new members as well.

The final event of the year is our Iron Man Regatta.  I'd like to thank club member Tom Zetlmaier for his assistance in providing a committee boat.
